The Eiffel Tower & much more...

Our first full day in Paris. Boy what a day it was, we were headed for the Eiffel Tower today. We were amazed by the sheer size of the tower. We headed straight to the top and boy what a treat that was. You could see the city for miles & miles! It was that windy at 324 metres high you could feel the tower swaying. But once you moved around the other side it was so calm. It was everything I had hoped for and more, we spent a few hours here just taking in all the sights.

We then saw the French Embassy, Nef du Grand Palais, Ecole Militaire, Hotel National Des Invalides, Musee Des plans-reliefs, Basilica Sainte-Clotilde. We couldn't believe the details in these lovely old buildings, they were just bursting with character. We had dinner in a lovely little French restaurant in a little cobblestone lane way, which was very nice.

On our way back to the Metro we experienced Paris by night which had a completely different element to it. Somehow the city just transforms into different beautiful dimensions with buildings glowing and the Eiffel Tower twinkling on the hour for 5 mins....

The Metro well that is just like a rabbit warren and was quite confusing. It takes some time to get your head around it, but it is all part of the experience. Once again, we got right royally lost trying to get back to our hotel. After about an hour of going this way and that way, we decided to catch a taxi. As it was nearly 11pm local time it had been a long day as we left at 8am in the morning. So you can see we are getting as much in as we can each day. Creating many happy memories along the way.
