We arrived in Rome not sure what I think of Rome, its certainly different , when we checked in the hotel, the man warned us of some of the danger here. That was a little off putting, he said just last week women had the bottoms of there handbags cut open & wallets stolen & pick pockets etc. We have to decided to play it safe & not venture out tonight. The weather is lovely so warm our winter days are colder then here at the moment, no gloves or scarf, even jacket unbuttoned. People are everywhere, large crowds in every street, the biggest crowds we have come across on our travels...
Large crowds in the streets...
Well I had a technical glitch today, all the photo's on Paul's camera didn't download & I deleted them before I noticed. This is the camera we use to take our pictures together. So I am disappointed about that, & lost some nice ones we had taken in Florence this morning, the rest we can retake tomorrow. So onwards & upwards from here. We went to the Spanish Steps & walked them, yes more steps....Then went to Trevi Fountain that was lovely, I went back a second time & just took it all in eating a gelato....

Trevi Fountain....
Love the photo of the Trevi fountain. It was the same with pick pockets when we were in Rome too Michelle. At least you are aware of it. Can't wait to hear what you think of the Colosseum, Pantheon or the Vatican. Did you notice all of the TV antennas on the roof tops? We noticed that from the train when we first arrived in Rome. Hope you have a great time there whatever you get up to. It sounds like great shopping outside of Rome from what you friend Colleen said. Looking forward to seeing what you discover here.............Jan
ReplyDeleteHi Jan off to the Colosseum today can't wait too see it. I did notice on our way here all the satellite dishes on houses...I am not looking forward to the long plane trip back home.....but can't wait to get back home, missing Josh & Buddy like crazy.

Paul, please throw three coins into Trevi Fountain for me. There is a story there which I will share with you when you get home. We look forward to these blogs and are thoroughly enjoying your journey with you. Stay safe. Mum and Dad XX
ReplyDeleteHi Mum, consider it done! That's $7.49 you owe me as I only had 3x €2 coins in my pocket... Nah just joking, we will be there after breakfast this morning & then off to the Colosseum. It's been a big trip that's for sure, see you soon.

Hi Michelle
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had plenty of room around the Trevi Fountain! When we were there you could hardly move with rows of people right back to the shop fronts! Lucky you. the street crowd looks exactly like what we saw from the Spanish Steps as we were there on a public holiday!!!
No not really squeezed through, the crowds here are insane can't imagine it during peak season.....hopefully not as many crowds today being that its Monday, fingers crossed....

If you happen to go to Trevi fountain again, check out the "top right corner"...couldn't resist taking a photo of it! But don't worry it is safe!!
ReplyDeleteWe've also heard the stories of crime in Rome - but can't say we had the slightest bother. Just be aware but don't let it stop you from enjoying Rome. Cheers, Colleen
Will look this morning as we are going back today. We certainly are being very aware of what's going on around us & I am not taking my handbag so I don't have too worry. We can't believe how much warmer it is here...
ReplyDeleteCheers Michelle
